The Challenge

A 16-location paralegal company established in 1984 — serving traffic ticket cases across Canada — needed to grow organic visibility after transitioning to WordPress in 2020. The site had minimal organic traffic prior to the rebuild. Several structural challenges complicated the engagement:

  • Legal constraints prevented using “lawyer” terminology despite higher search volume
  • A competitor with a near-identical domain had shared content with the client until 2020, creating widespread duplication
  • Google Ads campaigns restricted on-page optimization on key landing pages
  • Google Business Profile access was unavailable for most location listings
  • Provincial licensing differences required separate websites for some regions

The Approach

Phase 1: July–December 2021

The client chose an accelerated path, compressing a typical 12-month strategy into 6 months. Work included a 400+ checkpoint technical audit, HTML cleanup and content structure improvements, removal of ~30% of duplicate news pages (with redirects to the main blog), and a content calendar with monthly articles on traffic offense topics.

Phase 2: January–December 2022

Expanded scope with location-specific landing pages optimized with regional cities, courts, and provincial offense data. Recovered historical backlinks from pages dating to 2003–2020. Regained Google Business Profile access and implemented LocalBusiness schema markup. Registered all locations across local directories for citations and exposure.
